Austin-Smith:Lord appointed to masterplan revamp of Ayrshire town

Architects Austin-Smith:Lord have been appointed by the Irvine Bay Regeneration Company to masterplan Kilwinning, one of five major North Ayrshire towns set for a revamp.

Regeneration plans, part of a £100m ten year programme for the area, are to be developed for Kilwinning and the towns of Ardrossan, Stevenson, Irvine, and Saltcoats.  Glasgow based Holmes Partnership recently won a national competition to design a landmark housing development for a prime site in Saltcoats.

Irvine Bay URC, and the other four Scottish urban regeneration companies, was established by the Scottish Government, and its partenrs North Ayrshire Council, Communities Scotland and Scottish Enterprise Ayrshire.

Elsewhere Edinburgh based consultancy DTZ has been appointed to act for three urban regeneration companies (URCs) for three different Scottish locations. The consultancy will advise on the regeneration of Irvine Bay; Clyde Gateway; and Riverside Inverclyde.

Irvine Bay URC and Clyde Gateway URC have instructed DTZ to advise on all aspects of property for four year and two years respectively.  Riverside Inverclyde URC, which covers the area between Greenock and Glasgow Port, has appointed the consultancy as planning advisors for four years.
