Annie Kenyon, 28, was one of four from the UK to be nominated for an Atkins Inspire Award, which aims to encourage, recognise and reward exceptional women working in the built environment.
Kenyon said she was “delighted” to receive the Future Star in Architecture award, which is open to women between 21 and 30 who have demonstrated significant personal achievement.
She said: “I just can’t really believe it to be honest. It’s one thing doing well up here, but to be recognised in London, it’s a different ball game."
The judges awarded Kenyon the prize in recognition of her professionalism and enthusiasm and the fact that she has established her own company at such a young age.
Kenyon, 28, studied architecture at Aberdeen’s Scott Sutherland School and trained at a leading conservation practice in Edinburgh. She set up her practice, Annie Kenyon Architects, in Aberdeenshire in 2006. The company specialises in rural re-designs, restorations and conversions using sustainable materials and renewable energy sources.
