Senses of Place: Building Excellence
Schools are the formative spaces for the young people who study in them. What kind of buildings should they have? How should they be designed to improve the learning experience? This exhibition will show the outcomes of a series of workshops, in response to the Scottish Government's 'Curriculum for Excellence', in which teachers, pupils and other school users from five local authorities across Scotland have worked with leading Scottish architects and designers to influence the design of learning spaces for the future.
The Senses of Place Programme has been commissioned by the Schools Division at the Scottish Government as part of their Building Excellence Programme. The Local Authorities involved in the project are Argyll & Bute, North Lanarkshire, Orkney Islands, Stirling, and West Lothian working alongside architects and designers 3DReid, DEGW, Gareth Hoskins Architects, JM Architects and Sam Booth, and Lisa MacKenzie.
