Fieldtrip

Scotland has been inhabited for at least 10,000 years and during that time people have left their mark on the land from standing stones and castles to power stations and new towns.  Fieldtrip take five routes across Scotland.  Passing through Highland, Island and Central landscapes the routs connect points of architectural interest along the way.  To gather responses to these routes, five groups led by five guides went on field trips to record the journey, examining the landscapes, buildings and structures along the way.

The guides were responsible for the approach taken to the field trip and each set a brief for their group.  In addition to the brief each person was given a notebook and camera and asked to buy a souvenir, collect a memento and send a postcard.  The combination of the guide , the group and the brief resulted in different interpretations of the journey.  All routs can be done in a day using different modes of transport.  Hopefully visitors the website will want to complete the routes themselves and be inspired by the group's experiences of the journeys.
